This tall and beautiful Santos is quite mysterious with her bright eyes and dark dress. This modern Santos Cage Doll has been made in the fashion of an antique. She is 31" tall, with a 7.5" wide base.
The lady's shoulders, elbows & hands are jointed, providing her with limited (and/or perhaps asymmetrical) motion/postures. This is not a defect, but a distinction of unique craftmanship!
Variations occur with each handcrafted piece, particularly when being 'antiqued'. This is character, not a flaw, and is intended to make your Santos uniquely beautiful. Please keep in mind that the arm motion-/posture-capacity of your Santos may differ from (i.e. be more, less, or similar to that of) the one depicted.
The joint where the head plate and the torso meet is sometimes visible, in a handcrafted vintage fashion. In years past, many of these dolls were made by pouring plaster in to molds for heads and hands, and attaching to wood torsos. These days, the torsos and cages are still wood (plus some metal joint pieces), but plaster is a combo of resin finished with plaster, which has been sculpted, sanded, and then hand painted. Hadn't we known differently, we could have sworn that she was 100% carved out of wood!
Your doll will match beautifully with antique decor, vintage decor, religious relics, shabby chic, or Italian, Spanish, French, South American, Central American decor. She can be dressed in a skirt, used to hold trinkets inside the cage, or even 'model' as a doll dress form. Her stormy color would be beautiful holding a birds nest with Robins eggs, or a bouquet of mixed shades of roses.
For your reference, she best wears a crown between 2 and 2.75 inches in diameter - such as those seen in photos 4 & 5.
All photos are from our studio collection. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, milagros / ex-votos / crowns / wings / halos / etc shown in any of these photos are not included.
